TOPEKA, Kan. (Aug. 9, 2017) -- The tiered registration process for the 2017 Tire Rack ProSolo® Finale opens August 9 at 3 p.m. CDT. For the Finale, competitors are allowed to enter based on ProSolo points amassed during the 10-event season.
Drivers with 32 or more points are considered “Tier 1” and can register as of August 9 at 3 p.m. CDT. Drivers who have scored points in the same class during at least three events or earned at least 25 points in a class are considered “Tier 2” and can register for the Finale beginning August 16 at 3 p.m. CDT. Competitors who have scored points in the same class at only two or more events are classified as “Tier 3” and can register for the Finale starting August 23 at 3 p.m. Central Time. Registration then closes August 27.
The Finale entry cap is set at 300 participants, excluding Formula Junior. Any registrations received after the cap has been reached will be placed on a tiered waiting list.
The Tire Rack ProSolo Finale takes place September 1-3 at Lincoln Airport in Nebraska. During the competition, drivers face off, side-by-side, at a “Christmas Tree” start before launching down a straightaway and into mirror image autocross courses. Three heats of class competition give drivers 12 total runs, six on each course. Like other Solo competitions, runs are timed to 1/1000th of a second and knocking a cone down means a two-second penalty added to a time.
Opening runs determine class rankings and also set the qualifying order for the second part of the event which determines the overall winner. The top qualifiers enter into single-elimination brackets and conduct runoffs until only one driver
